Info
For this song I decided to get political, for some reason. I wouldn't say the
lyrics are "laughable" necessarily, but, um, they're not great. Not exactly
subtle, I guess, is the problem. Also I tried to be slightly funky this time,
though I mostly tried to rock. The guitars, predictably, are the most solid
part, and there's some decent lead playing. I must have redone the vocals, as
they sound pretty decent, and I think originally they were kinda weak. But hey,
this was only the fourth song I'd ever tried to do. Anyway, if nothing else,
I can at least be proud to say that I lost to Starfinger's now legendary
"More Than Soup".
Lyrics
verse 1 on my tour of duty i served my country well in the jungles of vietnam in a living hell come home to find out i couldn't make ends meet that's how i wound up living on the street chorus and it's gonna take more than soup to feed me more than a bed to lay me down we need more than spare change to turn this world around 2x verse 2 i was an honest man once i stayed out of trouble but then i got mixed up with a little white devil i was once just like you i had a family and a home but all that changed in the blink of an eye and now i'm on the streets alone chorus sometimes I hear demons telling me what to do you can tell me they aren't real but they say the same thing about you I got turned out of the hospital but i still can't find peace there's no cure my sickness out here on the streets
Etc.
Straight ahead blues rock, guitar, drums, bass, vocals. I layered the vocals up
a bit more than usual during the last choruses. Look out for the spastic fake
drum freakout at the end.
